Fundraiser for Cages and Carriers for Animals in Six Shelters

Many shelters lack reliable cages and carriers. As a result, during evacuations, treatment, or quarantine, animals often experience stress, may be injured, or become infected from one another.

For example, the team at Sluzhba Zakhystu Tvaryn Shans shelter often goes on evacuation missions to frontline areas. On one such trip, they rescued dogs from an abandoned house where the animals were temporarily staying alongside soldiers. Once the location changed, the dogs would have been left behind with no chance of rescue. The road was difficult and long, but the volunteers managed to reach the positions and take the animals to a safer place.

Such trips are not uncommon, and each time there is a severe shortage of equipment for the safe transportation and temporary housing of animals.

Cages and carriers are needed not only during evacuations. They often become the only option for taking in an animal when there are no free enclosures or time to look for other solutions. One such case is the story of a dog named Roger.

His caregivers left him on a chain. Due to his aggression towards people and animals, he could not be accepted by the shelter where he was supposed to be taken. As a result, he ended up at Animal House Rescue shelter. At that time, there were no free enclosures, so Roger was placed in a cage. It was the only safe solution that allowed us to avoid injuries and control the situation.

The cage gave time for adaptation and gradual work with the animal. Over time, Roger became calmer and began to trust people.

We are raising UAH 359,062 (≈$8,254) to provide six shelters with the necessary equipment. With this money, we will buy 58 cages and 30 carriers. We will help the following shelters: 

• Sluzhba Zakhystu Tvaryn Shans (Zaporizhzhia);
• Druzi Space (Kramatorsk, Donetsk region)
• Animal House Rescue (Poltava region);
• Dream in the Palms (Dnipropetrovsk region);
• Save Animals Ukraine (Dnipropetrovsk region);
• Mini Shelter – Dobre Serce (Kirovohrad region).
