Fundraiser for food and treatments for animals under the care of soldiers near the frontline

In the frontline areas, many cats and dogs are left behind in places that people have fled. Some were abandoned during evacuation, while others have been strays their entire lives. Soldiers often take care of these animals: they feed them, treat them, keep them warm, set up sleeping spots, and, when they can, find them families or adopt them themselves.

Soldiers often look after several animals at a time, so they need quite a lot of food. They buy it with their own money or share their own food. And cats and dogs that mostly live outdoors also require regular treatments for fleas, ticks, and other parasites.

That is why we are raising UAH 300,000 (≈$6,711) to provide food and anti-parasitic treatments to the animals cared for by our defenders.

With these funds, we will purchase and deliver:

• dry food for adult dogs and puppies;
• dry food for adult cats and kittens;
• anti-parasitic treatments for adult dogs and puppies;
• anti-parasitic treatments for adult cats and kittens.

This support will go to defenders who care for animals while on duty in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv regions. We will accept applications through our chatbot.

Last time, thanks to your donations, we were able to get this support to the soldiers. One defender in Dnipropetrovsk region told us that together with his fellow soldiers, he has been caring for cats that showed up at their positions for about a year now. At first, there were only a few animals, but later two of the cats gave birth — and now the soldiers have 15 cats and kittens under their care.

In Kharkiv region, another soldier has been looking after animals for about a year. Him and his brothers and sisters in arms found two dogs after explosions in a nearby forest strip, took them in, treated them, and nursed them back to health. Later, a female cat and a male cat joined them, and she later gave birth to five kittens. The soldiers can hardly ever leave to buy food or veterinary medications.
