When the city of Bilozersk in the Donetsk region came under heavier shelling as the front approached, the team at Bilozersk Animals shelter had to make a swift and urgent decision: evacuate their animals to safety.

Together with dedicated volunteers, 62 dogs and 93 cats were relocated to the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The new location is a little calmer for the animals, but there are no dedicated areas for keeping dogs. That’s why we are raising 342,200 UAH (~$8,309) — to buy and deliver 16 kennels and 4 enclosures, giving the animals their own space where they can hide from rain, snow, or sun, have fewer fights, and make it easier for shelter staff to care for them.

Join the collection with a donation that’s comfortable for you. Help improve the lives of at least 50 animals. Here are the stories of some of them:

Stepan the dog was left tied up at the entrance of the apartment building by his guardians when they evacuated, and no one knows how long he stayed there without water or food. Fortunately, a volunteer spotted him and brought him to Bilozersk Animals shelter. Now, Stepan is slowly recovering from stress and learning to trust people again.

Toma the dog also experienced betrayal from her people. They put her in a bag and left her by a pond—but she managed to tear the bag and survive. She was exhausted, terrified of people, and weighed only five kilograms. Today, Toma is safe, living surrounded by care and love.

Can we create a safe, comfortable home for animals who have already been through so much?
