Fundraising for Five Enclosures for Evacuated Animals at the Dimpets Shelter

The Dimpets shelter in the Sumy region cares for over 200 cats and 80 dogs, including animals evacuated from frontline areas. Due to the war, their numbers are constantly increasing.

For example, recently, a dog named Jack arrived at the shelter from Bilany, Sumy region. His humans evacuated, leaving him chained outside. Jack risked dying from hunger, cold, or shelling, so he was urgently evacuated.

Another dog in Sumy is also waiting for rescue. His owner passed away, leaving him on a two-meter chain. He spent several days without food or water and couldn’t even lie down properly. The dog is very afraid of people. He is now being fed on-site and gradually getting used to human contact. The next step is capture and evacuation — but the shelter must prepare space in advance.

Existing enclosures and facilities are overcrowded, and there is simply no room for new cats and dogs. The shelter cannot set up new housing areas with its own resources.

Therefore, we are raising 150,000 UAH (~$3 555,31) to build five new enclosures at Dimpets. Each enclosure costs 30,000 UAH (~$711,06) and measures 4.82 square meters.

The new enclosures are needed to provide comfortable conditions for animals who have endured so much stress and suffering. This is critical for initial examination, quarantine, treatment, and calm adaptation after evacuation.

Such structures help prevent conflicts between animals, maintain hygiene standards, and gradually prepare the residents for adoption.
