FUNDRAISER FOR AN ANIMAL TREATMENT FACILITY IN THE SHELTER “MISTO SOBAK” IN MYKOLAIV

The shelter “Misto Sobak” in Mykolaiv is home to 185 dogs, 28 cats, and two sheep. When the animals get sick or need constant treatment due to injuries or chronic illnesses, they need to be taken to animal clinics for examinations and procedures on a regular basis.

The facility we are raising money to build will allow us to treat animals right in the shelter, saving money and time for veterinary care. Most importantly, in critical cases, it can literally save animals’ lives.

The shelter’s staff will be able to administer drips and injections to the animals on their own, and the animals will be kept in a warm and dry area during treatment (currently, the shelter has no indoor facilities, only outdoor enclosures).

The head of the shelter, Lyudmyla Tkach, recalls a story of a dog becoming sick in the shelter. The long time spent looking for transportation to the clinic was the deciding factor for the animal’s life. By the time they managed to get to the hospital, the dog could not be saved.

“The doctor said that if we had arrived at least 20 minutes earlier, the dog would have been given a shot of pulmonary edema and heart medication, and we would have been able to save him,” says Lyudmila Tkach.
