The quarantine period is a critically important stage in the care of animals living in shelters. Every newly arrived animal must undergo quarantine before being introduced to common areas and enclosures.

Currently, the Vriatyi Zhyttia (Save a Life) shelter does not have a suitable facility. Creating proper quarantine conditions is crucial to continuing to rescue stray animals and those evacuated from frontline areas.

That is why we want to support the shelter by funding the construction of a mobile quarantine module. To achieve this, we need to raise $6,500.

Here is an example of a mobile unit like this (the quarantine module we will fund will have some differences from the example):

A mobile quarantine facility in the shelter is vital for:

  1. Preventing the spread of infectious diseases, illnesses, and parasites. Sick, newly arrived animals can infect other cats and dogs. Isolation during quarantine is necessary for examination and treatment. If needed, animals will be taken to a veterinary clinic for tests, analyses, and diagnosis.
  2. Providing comfortable conditions for both shelter workers and animals. In the quarantine module, veterinarians will examine, treat, vaccinate, and care for cats and dogs before transferring them to the general areas.
  3. Helping animals adapt to new conditions — sounds, smells, and surroundings. New arrivals from frontline areas and the streets have lived under constant stress for a long time. Staying in quarantine will help them gradually adjust to their new environment.

This also ensures the safety of other animals and shelter workers by preventing sudden aggression in newly arrived animals due to fear and stress.

The mobile unit will be equipped with electric power and air conditioning to maintain a comfortable temperature year-round. It will have cage compartments for animal isolation.

If needed, the module can be relocated, saving significant costs on constructing a separate building while also protecting shelter animals in case of danger or emergency relocation.

The comfort and safety of the animals are the most important aspects of rescuing homeless cats and dogs.
