UAnimals rescuers evacuate over 120 animals from dangerous zones

From June 15 to 19, UAnimals organized three evacuation missions: two were carried out by team members, and one by volunteers. Together, they managed to rescue over 120 animals from the Kharkiv and Donetsk Oblasts.

Rescuers Dania and Vlad evacuated Olena Taranchenko’s mini-shelter from the outskirts of Kharkiv. Under Olena’s care were 2 horses, 6 ponies, 15 pigs, and 15 goats. Olena also has 40 dogs and various birds.

The goats, pigs, horse, and many dogs appeared during the war as people left and entrusted their animals to her care.

This is the second time Olena Taranchenko is fleeing the war. In 2022, she evacuated from the Kharkiv Oblast to the Odesa Oblast with her animals but later returned home. However, the situation has worsened again. During one of the attacks on Kharkiv, a pig died of a heart attack, and Olena decided to leave again.

The evacuation team transported the domestic animals to the Cherkasy region, where Olena found temporary housing. She will pick up the birds and dogs herself.

Rescuers Volodia and Serhii took two cows, two calves, three geese, seven ducks, a peacock, nine parrots, and 50 chickens from Toretsk in the Donetsk region. All were transported to the Poltava Oblast. Owners Natalia and Mykola will continue to care for the animals at the new location. The trip to Toretsk was partially sponsored by UAnimals partners, the price comparison service hotline.ua.

Volunteers Mariia and Andrii rescued 12 dogs from Kharkiv, whose caretaker, Oleksandr, will soon go into military service. The dogs were transported to the village of Bryhydivka in the Vinnytsia Oblast to the shelter of Toma Pastukh. This is not the first evacuation mission for Mariia and Andrii; they previously rescued animals from the Sumy region.

All this is possible thanks to your contributions. Evacuating animals from frontline areas is also important because it allows people to leave dangerous areas.

Currently, funds are being raised for the evacuation of animals from the Sumy Oblast. Please join us — every contribution is appreciated!
