Financial reports for May
Throughout May, we continued rescuing animals across Ukraine: evacuating them from frontline areas, transporting them to shelters and families, providing medical treatment, sterilization, and support for shelters. We also continued working on cases of animal cruelty reporting incidents to the police, monitoring investigations, and holding abusers accountable.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who donates, volunteers, shares our posts, tags us, sends messages, and leaves words of encouragement. Together, we save lives.
Here is what we managed to achieve in May 👇
🐱We evacuated 146 animals from frontline areas, including 69 animals transported by volunteers at our request. Most of them were dogs and puppies, cats and kittens, as well as one cow.
This time, our team’s route, together with volunteers, passed through Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka, Sloviansk, and Mykolaivka in the Donetsk region, Balakliia in Kharkiv region, and Beshkin in Sumy region.
In May, we also transported eight animals from veterinary clinics to shelters and new families. Before that, we, together with volunteers, had rescued them from combat zones. Thanks to care, treatment, and rehabilitation, they recovered and are now settling into safer and more comfortable conditions.
🐾 In May, we covered veterinary treatment and provided medication for 2,567 animals. This included payment for inpatient care, surgeries and post-operative treatment, vaccinations, parasite prevention, veterinary examinations, laboratory tests, and diagnostic procedures. The total amount spent was UAH 2,644,188.65 (≈$63,869).*
*In this report, we describe individual veterinary and medication expenses. If a specific fundraiser is not mentioned, it means the support was paid for thanks to our partners’ contributions.
1. As part of the fundraiser for parasite prevention treatments for cats and dogs, we sent 130 treatments to the Snizhок shelter in Mykolaiv region; 36 treatments to the My Happy Pack shelter in Mykolaiv region; 60 treatments to the Prominchyk Dobra shelter in Kharkiv region; 343 treatments to the Novyi Svit Kryvyi Rih shelter; 176 treatments to the Malyi Dim Chapa shelter in Mykolaiv region; 349 treatments to the Varta Miloserdia organization in Kherson.
2. We covered veterinary examinations, inpatient care, food, medical supplies, surgeries, blood tests, biochemical analyses, wound treatment, cytology, and parasite prevention for Tina, a dog rescued from Novoekonomichne, Donetsk region, in summer 2024. The total cost was UAH 105,624.50 (≈$2,559). The funds came from this fundraiser.
3. We also covered treatment for five dogs and twelve cats. These animals were evacuated by volunteers from Tavriiske and Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia region. For the cats, we paid for veterinary examinations, tests, medical supplies, and specialized food. The dogs received examinations and tests, as well as vaccinations. We also covered temporary care for 73 animals evacuated from frontline settlements in Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The total cost was UAH 115,948(≈$2,800). The funds came from this fundraiser.
4. We covered an implant for Fili, a dog rescued after shelling in Kherson. The animal was found by volunteers, who took the injured dog away and urgently transported him to Odesa for treatment. The cost was UAH 17,000(≈$410). The funds came from this fundraiser.
5. We covered medical care, tests, inpatient treatment, medication, litter, and food for the cat named Thomas. He was evacuated by us from Rodynske in February 2025. The total cost was UAH 37,115(≈$896). The funds came from this fundraiser.
6. We covered the cremation of a puppy. Soldiers reached out to us after taking in a sick little animal at their position. The soldiers asked us to help pay for the puppy’s treatment. Unfortunately, the puppy passed away on the way to the clinic. The cost was UAH 2,000 (≈$48). The funds came from this fundraiser.
7. We covered surgery for the puppy named Fili, rescued after shelling in Kherson. The procedure included joint stabilization and bone reconstruction. The cost was UAH 61,282.50 (≈$1,480). The funds came from this fundraiser.
8. We covered a therapist appointment, examinations, tests, and medication for Joey, a cat evacuated from the Sumy region at the soldiers’ request. After evacuation, Joey was taken to the “Kotonosyky” shelter in Kyiv, but later stopped eating. During examination, veterinarians diagnosed him with acute pancreatitis. He could not eat independently, so he was fed through a tube. The shelter turned to us for help with treatment costs. The total cost was UAH 2,884.50 (≈$69). The funds came from this fundraiser.
9. We covered veterinary services for previously evacuated animals, including an ultrasound examination for a spaniel evacuated from Druzhkivka; vaccination and veterinary examination for 32 animals evacuated from Druzhkivka by volunteers at our request; castration and sterilization for 10 animals rescued by our team; temporary care for 75 evacuated animals. After receiving veterinary care, the animals were transported further. The total cost was UAH 109,075 (≈$2,634). The funds came from this fundraiser.
10. During the Vetmission, which took place from May 8 to May 11 in Buryn, Sumy region, we vaccinated 325 animals against rabies, microchipped them, provided parasite treatments, offered 84 veterinary consultations, and provided additional treatment for 14 animals.
11. We covered examinations, tests, inpatient treatment, and medical care for Manny and Rosie. The puppies were brought to us in April during the Vetmission in Oleksandrivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. Rosie was diagnosed with babesiosis, while Manny was diagnosed with parvovirus enteritis. For Miranda, a dog from the Odesa region, we covered a veterinary consultation. The animal had a wound on her paw. We also helped the cat named Leon from the Zaporizhzhia region, who was injured in an enemy shelling attack: we paid for inpatient treatment, wound dressings, and food. The total cost was UAH 47,807.40 (≈$1,154).
12. For Ryzh the cat, rescued by a soldier, we covered veterinary examination, tests and diagnostics, infectious disease testing, deworming, flea treatment, sterilization, and vaccination. We also helped four soldiers’ dogs — Roza, Zhulia, Bobby, and Shakira — covering inpatient care, treatment, and nutrition, as well as sterilization for Zhulia, castration for Bobby, and parasite treatment for Shakira. For Lucky, a dog belonging to a soldier from the Zaporizhzhia region, we covered inpatient treatment, X-rays, paw surgery, wound care, injections, parasite treatment, and food. The total cost was UAH 91,324.45 (≈$2,205). The funds came from the fundraiser supporting animals under the soldiers’ care.
13. For a cat rescued during the Vetmission in Konotop, we covered comprehensive treatment and care, including examination, tests, inpatient care, heart diagnostics, therapy, vaccination, dental treatment and tooth extraction, sterilization, surgery to remove a growth on the ear followed by histological analysis. For the cat named Taras from the Zaporizhzhia region, found by volunteers in the grey zone with a fractured jaw, we covered osteosynthetic surgery, inpatient care, injections, therapy, catheter placement, wound treatment, and nutrition. For the dog named Olezha, also evacuated from the grey zone by volunteers, we covered X-rays; osteosynthesis surgery, wound dressing, parasite treatment, vaccination, therapy, inpatient care, and food. The total cost was UAH 103,138.11 (≈$2,491).
14. Thanks to your support of the fundraiser for the treatment of animals under soldiers’ care, we covered treatment and care for four rescued animals: the cat named Murzik from the Dnipropetrovsk region, who had kidney problems — inpatient care, necessary tests, antibiotic therapy, and food; puppies Fenya and Vakka from the Dnipropetrovsk region, who were suffering from babesiosis — veterinary examination, inpatient care, and food; the dog named Yuna from Zaporizhzhia region — inpatient treatment, injections, wound care, and food; Bars the cat from the Zaporizhzhia region — inpatient treatment, injections, parasite treatment, eye cleaning, blood tests, X-rays, and food. The total cost was UAH 29,606 (≈$715).
15. We covered diagnostics, treatment, and surgery for the deer named Borys, as well as his transportation to the Wildlife Rescue Center. The cost was UAH 64,500 (≈$1,557).
16. We covered the post-operative inpatient care, wound treatment, veterinary collar, and antibiotics for the puppy named Fili, rescued after shelling in Kherson. The cost was UAH 8,188.40 (≈$197). The funds came from this fundraiser.
17. We covered food, inpatient care, wound treatment, and medical supplies for the cat named Fialka from Kramatorsk. During evacuation, she felt unwell, so our team brought her to a partner clinic in Kharkiv, where she received urgent care. Only after her condition stabilized was she sterilized. The cost was UAH 7,710 (≈$186). The funds came from this fundraiser.
18. We covered the second veterinary bill for Zoya the dog, including examination, drain placement, catheterization, wound care, inpatient treatment, medication, medical supplies, food. Zoya was evacuated by a volunteer from Zarichne, Zaporizhzhia region. The cost was UAH 24,412 (≈$589). The funds came from this fundraiser.
19. We covered treatment and care for puppies Manny and Rosie in Dnipro, including inpatient care, medication, sterilization, and food. For the cat named Leon in Zaporizhzhia, we covered clinic stays, injections, wound dressing, and nutrition. The total cost was UAH 13,504 (≈$325).
20. We covered temporary care, food, and medication for 65 evacuated animals. We also paid for examination and diagnostics for Charlie the spaniel, whom we evacuated from Druzhkivka, Donetsk region, as well as parasite treatments for five other animals from Druzhkivka. The total cost was UAH 43,595 (≈$1,053). The funds came from this fundraiser.
21. Thanks to your support of this fundraiser and this fundraiser for the treatment of animals under soldiers’ care, we covered veterinary care in Zaporizhzhia for Shakira the dog — inpatient treatment, rehabilitation, and food; for the cat named Bars — inpatient care, injections, and food; for the dog named Yuna — inpatient treatment, sterilization, injections, parasite prevention, and food; for the dog named Lucky — inpatient care, therapy, medication, and food. Within the same fundraiser, we also helped animals in Dnipro: covered medication, medical supplies, inpatient care, and food for the cat named Murzik; covered inpatient care, supplies, and food for puppies Vakka and Fenya. The total cost was UAH 29,979 (≈$724).
22. We covered examinations, vaccinations, viral inpatient treatment, blood transfusions, general and biochemical blood tests, parasite treatments, sedation, catheterization, medical supplies, tests, stool analysis, food, glucose monitoring, and cytology for kittens evacuated during the Vetmission from Kramatorsk. The kittens were diagnosed with panleukopenia. Veterinarians fought to save them, but unfortunately, three of the little ones passed away. Only one kitten survived. The total cost was UAH 89,901 (≈$2,171). The funds came from this fundraiser.
23. We covered examination, inpatient treatment, X-rays, ultrasound examinations, blood tests, suture removal, removal of a growth, veterinary treatments, heart echocardiography, sedation, blood transfusion, catheterization, medical supplies, specialized food, blood pressure measurement, and diagnostic tests for Matroskin the dog from Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia region. The dog was evacuated in March by a volunteer. The cost was UAH 84,694.50 (≈$2,045). The funds came from this fundraiser.
24. During the Vetmission in Petropil, Zaporizhzhia region, from May 22 to May 25, we vaccinated 314 animals against rabies, microchipped them, provided parasite treatments, vaccinated an additional 110 animals against rabies, conducted 40 veterinary consultations, provided additional treatment for 18 animals.
25. We covered examinations and surgery for the dog named Mira evacuated from the Donetsk region. We paid for inpatient care, veterinary examinations, blood tests, parasite tests, as well as sterilization, wound care, and therapeutic bathing. The total cost was UAH 16,694 (≈$403). The funds came from this fundraiser.
26. We covered a scheduled veterinary visit for the dog named Fili, who was previously rescued after shelling in Kherson. Fili received a post-operative examination, an X-ray, had his stitches removed, and received the necessary anti-inflammatory medication and wound care supplies. The total cost was UAH 3,805.95 (≈$91). The funds came from this fundraiser.
27. We covered the purchase and delivery of disease detection tests for the shelters Bilozersk Animals and Patron Pet Center. The total cost was UAH 75,300 (≈$1,818).
28. We covered treatment for four animals in soldiers’ care. For the cat named Lilitka, we paid for inpatient care, oral medication, injections, blood sampling, clinical and biochemical blood tests, medication, and food. For the cat named Ryzhyk, we covered inpatient treatment, oral medication, injections, blood sampling, clinical and biochemical blood tests, glucose monitoring, medication, and food. For the cat named Tyson, we paid for microchipping, castration, vaccination, and inpatient care. For the cat named Rudenko, we covered an X-ray, castration, abscess treatment, and medication. We also provided veterinary assistance to four soldiers’ animals in Dnipro. For the cat named Bars, we covered the initial examination, blood collection, general and biochemical blood tests, inpatient care, medication, medical supplies, and food. For the cat named Murzik, we covered inpatient care, medical supplies, and food. For puppies Vakka and Fenya, we covered inpatient treatment, stool analysis, medical supplies, and food. The total cost was UAH 52,128.50 (≈$1,259). The funds came from the fundraiser for the treatment of animals cared for by soldiers.
29. We covered treatment for the dog named Connor, who had an injured paw. He was rescued by military journalists in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. The veterinary bill included inpatient care, a test for dirofilariasis, ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs and heart, wound treatment, catheterization, bandaging, blood tests, parasite prevention, vaccination, sedation, inhalation anesthesia, castration, wound care, and a veterinary collar. The total cost was UAH 68,033 (≈$1,643).
30. We covered the necropsy and cremation of a dog evacuated from the Donetsk region. During transportation, the animal passed away due to pulmonary edema. The cost was UAH 12,163 (≈$293).
31. We provided veterinary assistance to six animals from frontline areas. For puppies Manny and Rosie, we covered inpatient care, medical supplies, and food. For the puppy named Hera, we paid for the initial examination, inpatient treatment, blood tests, a babesiosis test, catheterization, medication administration, medicines, medical supplies, and food. For the cat from Konotop, we covered inpatient care, medication, wound treatment, medical supplies, and food. For the cat named Chernushka, we covered inpatient care, injections, vaccination, medication, and food. For the cat named Vasyl, we covered inpatient care, medication administration, medicines, and food. The total cost was UAH 47,235.10 (≈$1,140).
32. We covered the purchase and delivery of 164 parasite treatments for dogs to the Forsaken Angel shelter. The cost was UAH 20,541 (≈$496).
33. As part of the treatment fundraiser, we helped the dog named Zoya, who was evacuated from Zarichne, Zaporizhzhia region. We covered inpatient care, medication, food, and post-operative treatment. The cost was UAH 10,844 (≈$261).
34. We provided veterinary assistance to 17 evacuated animals from Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. For two cats with calicivirus, we covered viral inpatient care, injections, and eye treatment. For one cat, we covered inpatient care, antibiotics, and medication administration. For nine puppies, we paid for inpatient treatment, diagnostics, catheterization, IV therapy, infusions, injections, and medication. For three dogs, we provided parasite prevention and vaccination. For a cat and a kitten, we covered parasite treatment, antibiotics, medication administration, and vaccination. For one cat, we paid for eye treatment, antibiotics, injections, castration, and wound care. The total cost was UAH 132,372 (≈$3,197). The funds came from this fundraiser. We also separately covered inpatient care, feeding, treatment for a fungal infection, and revaccination for nine of the animals mentioned above.
🩹 We continue working systematically to reduce the number of homeless animals. In May, we sterilized 775 animals. The total cost of this was UAH 202,280 (≈$4,885). Sterilization helps prevent uncontrolled breeding, meaning fewer animals will be left living on the streets, facing hunger, cold, and disease.

3. We covered sterilization, vaccination, and microchipping for 10 animals in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The cost was UAH 23,620 (≈$570).
4. During the Vetmission in Petropil, Zaporizhzhia region, from May 22 to May 25, we sterilized 314 animals.
5. We covered sterilization, vaccination, and microchipping for seven animals in the Dnipropetrovsk region, 64 animals in the Donetsk region, 17 animals in the Kharkiv region, as well as 10 wild boars, five goats, and two bulls in the Mykolaiv region. The total cost was UAH 138,530 (≈$3,346).
🥣 In May, we sent 10,044 kilograms and 10 grams of food from our warehouse to various shelters, as well as to military personnel caring for animals in combat zones. In total, we provided food for 2,035 animals under our care. The total amount spent was UAH 566,288 (≈$13,678).

3. During the Vetmission in Buryn, Sumy region, we distributed 153 kilograms of dog food and 200 kilograms and 200 grams of cat food.
4. During the Vetmission held in Petropil, we distributed 202 kilograms and 500 grams of dog food and 182 kilograms of cat food.
5. Thanks to your support of our fundraiser for food for shelter animals, we purchased and delivered to our warehouse 2,550 kilograms of cat food and 3,830 kilograms of dog food. We are planning to open applications for this assistance through our chatbot soon.
⚒️We supported projects focused on rebuilding and improving animal shelters. Thanks to this support, 2,154 animals received more comfortable living conditions. The total amount allocated for this assistance was UAH 823,460.98 (≈$19.890).
1. Thanks to a fundraiser for a veterinary mobile unit for the Mini Shelter Dobre Serce, we provided financial support for its purchase. With the remaining funds, we also delivered an examination table, two IV stands, training pads, and wet food to the shelter.
2. Thanks to our partners’ support, we covered the production and delivery of quarantine units for the shelters Adopt Don’t Stop, V Dobri Ruky (“In Good Hands”), and Druh. The total cost was UAH 246,300 (≈$5,949).
3. For the organizations Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center and Khatul Madan, we purchased two oxygen concentrators. The total cost was UAH 66,340 (≈$1,602).
4. With the support of our partners, we also covered the production and delivery of quarantine units for the Khatul Madan organization and the Rukavychka private shelter in Kryvyi Rih. The cost was UAH 141,200 (≈$3,410).
5. We purchased an enclosure for the shepherd dog named Bagheera rescued during the Vetmission in autumn 2024. She is now being cared for by a volunteer from the Kytskin Dim shelter. The cost was UAH 39,600 (≈$956).
🫂 Our community of volunteers continues to support animals. In May, 409 wonderful people joined different initiatives. They distributed food and parasite treatments in frontline areas, cleaned natural areas from waste, spent time with animals in shelters, and helped support fundraising campaigns.
1. 390 volunteers joined the UAnimals Cleanup initiative in four national nature parks in Khmelnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, Volyn, and Poltava regions. Together, we cleared the areas of 30 tons of waste.
2. Ten volunteers distributed 2,360 kilograms of food and 825 parasite treatments for animals in seven frontline regions of Ukraine: Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
3. Three volunteer designers helped create and prepare informational posters.
4. Two volunteer photographers joined a photo day at two shelters in Kyiv and Lviv regions.
5. Four volunteers opened additional fundraising jars to support the campaign for the treatment of animals cared for by soldiers.
🤝 This month, we were also supported by our partners and businesses. We are deeply grateful for their trust, their support of our projects, and their contribution to helping animals.
1. We received a monthly donation of UAH 50,000 (≈$1,207) from the Dzherelo Dobra Charity Foundation. The funds will support the organization’s institutional activities.
2. We received financial assistance of UAH 768,750 (≈$18,568) from Deutscher Tierschutzbund — the largest organization in Germany and Europe dedicated to animal and nature protection.
3. We received UAH 1,789,802.44 (≈$43,231) from the Finnish organization SEY Finland — Finland’s largest animal welfare organization, which has been working since 1901. This donation will support UAnimals’ institutional activities.
4. We started cooperation with the MasterZoo pet store chain as part of the seventh wave of the Lapka Turboty (“A Caring Paw”) charity campaign. Together, we are raising funds to conduct Vetmissions in frontline regions, providing treatment, sterilization, and vaccination for animals in need.
5. We received 3,410 kilograms and 90 grams of food from Josera. This support will be used to help animals affected by the war and cared for by shelters, volunteers, and animal rescuers.
6. We received 50,000 humanitarian points from Nova Poshta to ship aid. These points allow us to deliver food, medicine, and other essential supplies for animals free of charge.
7. Thanks to the support of GlobalGiving — an international charitable platform that helps nonprofit organizations raise funding for important social and humanitarian projects — we conducted a veterinary mission in Petropil, Zaporizhzhia region.
8. We began cooperation with Ukrainian Jersey City, a Ukrainian community in Jersey City, USA. As part of this partnership, the organizers held a webinar titled Nature in Danger. Environmental Destruction of Ukraine and launched a fundraiser supporting Ukrainian initiatives. Thanks to this initiative, we raised UAH 132,150 (≈$3,192). The donation will support UAnimals’ institutional activities.
9. We received UAH 419,000 (≈$10,120) through GlobalGiving — one of the world’s largest charitable platforms, which helps nonprofit organizations receive support from donors worldwide. These were donations from platform users. The funds will be directed toward various areas of UAnimals’ work, including veterinary missions, animal evacuations, food assistance, and other rescue projects.
10. Thanks to our partnership with LIKI24, through which users can pay for animal food on the company’s platform while the partner provides delivery, we sent food to the Novyi Svit Kryvyi Rih shelter.
🧑⚖️ We continue fighting for humane treatment of animals: we submit reports to the police and advise people on how to respond to animal cruelty; we appeal to government authorities, demanding compliance with animal protection laws; and we work to ensure that Ukrainian laws and legal standards help make animals’ lives safer and better.
1. We submitted 10 reports concerning cases of animal cruelty. In one of these cases, law enforcement authorities launched a pre-trial investigation: in the village of Romanivka, Zhytomyr region, a man abused a shepherd dog. In two other cases, materials were transferred to court. In the Odesa region, a criminal case is being considered against a man who killed a dog with an axe. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, there is a case concerning the beating of a dog with a stick, which resulted in the animal losing its sight. The remaining reports are currently under review by law enforcement authorities.
2. Three administrative reports were also filed: one concerning the mother of a child who was choking a cat, another concerning children who shot at animals with an unidentified weapon, and another regarding improper keeping of a deer.
3. During the month, courts issued decisions in two cases. The man who threw a toy terrier from the seventh floor was sentenced to five years in prison. At the same time, in the case involving the keeping of a raccoon in the Kharkiv region, the court issued a refusal, finding no signs of an administrative offense.
